As you start this business, you’ll need to price yourself competitively so you can get a customer base established. Remember to take photos of your early creations so you can show your capability to new customers. Be prepared to work weekends for this job. Many of the events you will be working are on weekends, and you can’t fill balloons too far ahead of time or else they will deflate, pop, or lose their loftiness. But this is a business you can run from your own home. You’ll just take orders by phone, email or Internet and you’ll want to confirm the day before the event (it just makes people feel better that way). The best marketing strategies will be the good-old phone book as well as any Internet directories for balloon services in your area.
