Entrepreneur Magazine’s Franchise 500 for 2009
Entrepreneur Magazine just released its list of the top 500 franchises for 2009, and many of the top names are ones you’ll recognize. These are not only nationally known businesses, but they are also ones that have topped the list for many years. The order is a little different and there are some new names on the list.
Here’s the top 10 franchise opportunities for 2009:
1. Subway
2. McDonald’s
3. Liberty Tax Service
4. Sonic Drive-in Restaurants
5. InterContinental Hotel Groups
6. Ace Hardware Corp.
7. Pizza Hut
8. The UPS Store / Mail Boxes Etc.
9. Circle K
10. Papa John’s International Inc.
Big changes from the 2008 top -10 list include the addition of Liberty Tax Service, Circle K and Papa John’s Pizza. Ace Hardware and The UPS Store moved up just a few spots to get them into the top 10. Franchises that made the top 10 last year but are absent this year include 7-Eleven, Dunkin’ Donuts, KFC, Domino’s Pizza and Re/Max International.
Franchises are rated based on completely independent and quantifiable properties including financial stability, growth rate, years in operation, start-up costs and other factors. To see the full Franchise 500 list, click here.
