There are some very different ways you can run your company, and each of them will be more successful if you have some training and expertise in the field of fitness and weight loss. Consider taking some courses at a local college related to the human body and nutrition.
- Franchise - You could opt for a franchise to capitalize on a nationally-known name brand like Jenny Craig, Curves, Weight Watchers or other such facility. You’ll need a central place to meet and possibly would need your own designated store front. Check into the different brands to see what it takes to open a franchise location.
- Fitness Center - Fitness centers are popping up in strip malls and buildings all over the place. You’ll need some extra capital for this start-up because you’ll be paying for rent as well as the machines. Try finding a central location near lots of business complexes or office buildings to capitalize on the big population. Then get the word out that you are there and accepting memberships.
- Motivator - This is the cheapest method, where you market yourself as a motivator and then work with your clients to keep them on their own fitness track. You may be meeting one person three times a week for a one-hour walk, and then you’re off to another client’s house to check in on their nutrition and workout log. You’ll be working one-on-one with people to keep them on their path to weight loss. You can follow up with all your clients via email once a week with some extra tips, recipes and motivating quotes.
However you decide to proceed, you will need to keep in shape yourself and be positive to all of your clients so they will be more likely to achieve their own goals. You will be remembered for the positive impact you have on their lives.
